The SEC was almost perfect in six nonconference games played last Saturday. South Carolina’s shocking loss to The Citadel by one point brought the weekend record to 5-1.

Alabama and Auburn handled their opponents well, each team racking up 56 points. It wasn’t nearly as impressive in the SEC East. Florida and Georgia required overtime to secure their wins against Florida Atlantic and Georgia Southern, respectively. At least they won, something the Gamecocks couldn’t say.

Looking ahead, our favorite nonconference games of the season are coming up during Week 13. It’s rivalry week and the four SEC vs. ACC matchups mean so much more than just another victory in the SEC’s win column. Pride and state-wide bragging rights will be on the line.
