Nothing was sweet for the SEC teams receiving their latest losses on Saturday, and SEC Shorts found the sweet spot in its latest satire.
A Mississippi State fan could only take consolation in the retro helmet after a 24-3 blowout loss to Kentucky. The game didn’t even get into the computer system because of a new hire at the SEC Shorts office — a Michigan staffer.
Florida’s bowl game hopes look all but buried after 39-36 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The SEC Shorts secretary, Regina, warned the optimistic Gators fan it will likely get worse with No. 18 LSU, No. 16 Missouri, and No. 4 Florida State left on the schedule.
Missouri’s efforts against No. 1 Georgia at least won a place in Regina’s heart, and the Tigers fan has hopes of avoiding the loss column again this season. Losses to No. 14 Tennesse, Florida, or Arkanas would certainly spell ‘misery’ on a Cinderella season for Mizzou.
“I better not see you here the rest of the season,” Regina said sternly to the Tigers fan, who stole almost all of the candy.
Regina had less kindness for the LSU fan after a 42-28 loss to Alabama, poking fun at the Crimson Tide’s offense. She also trolled the Michigan spy allegations as a suggestion for the LSU fan.
Meanwhile, the Texas A&M fan just stood outside the office ringing a Salvation Army-style bell for a road win. The Aggies fell to 0-3 on the road against No. 10 Ole Miss in a 38-35 defeat on Saturday. LSU is the next road game for Texas A&M, but the Aggies have 2 more games in College Station first.
Vanderbilt meanwhile made a donation to Regina’s candy bowl after a loss to Auburn in a season that won’t result in a bowl appearance.
