SEC superiority reflected in dominance of AP polls since 2008

The days of the SEC winning seven consecutive national championships may be over, but as a whole, the conference has still been pretty dominant over the past few seasons.
That dominance has been reflected in the AP Poll since November 2008. In that time, there have been a total of 137 AP polls. And an SEC team has been ranked No. 1 in 91 of those.
Alabama has held the top spot for 58 of those 137 polls, with Florida a ways behind at 15. That’s according Chris Fallica, also known as ” The Bear” on ESPN’s College Gameday.
An SEC team has been No. 1 in 91 of the last 137 AP polls (since 11/2/08). In the prev 137 polls there were 10 weeks an SEC team was No. 1.

That’s a fairly impressive feat for a conference, and even more impressive for Alabama. If the Crimson Tide are able to get past Florida State on Sept. 2, there’s a good chance Nick Saban’s squad will be spending some more time at No. 1.
