SEC target 5-star RB Zach Evans sent home from Texas state championship game over reported rules violation

5-star RB Zach Evans helped lead North Shore to the Class 6A Division I state championship game against Duncanville, but the SEC target wasn’t allowed to play.
Earlier Saturday, multiple reports emerged that Evans was sent home from the game. The Houston Chronicle reported that Evans’ violated team rules involving cell phone use. The report did not provide further details.

Evans did not publicly sign during the Early Signing Period, but plans to early enroll, meaning his destination will be known before National Signing Day in February. He is scheduled to reveal his commitment on Jan. 2. Experts believe Evans’ recruitment is down to Georgia and LSU with Texas A&M a long-shot and distant third. The 247Sports Crystal Ball is trending toward Georgia.
Evans is rated the No. 1 running back, No. 1 recruit out of Texas and No. 14 prospect overall in the class according to the Composite.
