SEC team stats: Week 11

Eleven weeks are now in the books for 2014, and things are going down to the wire for several SEC teams.

The continuing theme of the SEC over the last few years has been the emergence of offense stealing away the defense’s thunder, and it’s happening again this season. Not only are offenses playing well, but defenses are plain terrible at times in tackling players. Rarely do you see players make tackles in one-on-one situations. Arm tackles and bad technique are the main reason for poor defensive play, and I’d venture to say some players’ aggressiveness isn’t there in lieu of the targeting rule.

Ten SEC offenses are scoring over 30 points per game, and just five defenses are holding opponents to under 20 points per game.

Here’s a look at the 2014 SEC team stats leaders, with scoring offense and scoring defense numbers below:
