Georgia junior wide receiver Ladd McConkey landed on the Reese’s Senior Bowl radar with his Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.

McConkey caught 6 passes for 135 yards and 1 TD in a 43-20 victory against the Florida Gators on Saturday. The 6-foot Chatsworth, Georgia, native put together his best game of the season with 22.5 yards per reception, plus a season-best 54-yard reception.

That wasn’t his only long catch of the day as his TD grab went for 41 yards and a 10-7 lead in the first quarter. Before Saturday, McConkey hadn’t scored a TD, gone over 58 yards, and caught more than 4 passes in a game. He was sidelined with a back injury for the first portion of the season.

McConkey has 15 catches for 242 yards and a TD this season. He has 104 receptions for 1,451 yards and 13 TDs for his career with the Bulldogs.

His best season came in 2022 when he tallied 58 receptions for 762 yards and 7 TDs. McConkey posted 31 catches for 447 yards and 5 TDs as a freshman in 2021.

With McConkey looking more like he did in years past, he could alleviate the loss of tight end Brock Bowers. However, McConkey won’t put that weight on himself solely.

“The whole mindset was it’s not person. Not one person can fill Brock Bowers’ role,” McConkey said after the game. “Everyone is stepping up 5 percent to try and fill that void. For one person to go out there and say I’m going to fill that void, it’s silly.”
