Shane Beamer previews Texas A&M, comments on 5-0 record with extra time to prepare
Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks are gearing up for a tough conference matchup with Texas A&M.
Fortunately for the Gamecocks, they had a bye week in Week 7. When the Gamecocks have extra time between games, they are 5-0 under Shane Beamer.
During his Sunday media teleconference, Beamer was superstitious.
“I hope you just found some wood to knock on, man,” Beamer told a reporter. “Don’t jinx us.”
Asked Beamer why he thinks his team has been so good with extra time in his tenure — Gamecocks are 5-0 season openers, bye weeks, etc.
“I hope you just found some wood to knock on, man. Don’t jinx us.”

In addition to that stat, the Gamecocks are also fairly healthy for this point of the season. According to Beamer, everyone is likely to play save for 3 players, Christian Beal-Smith, Corey Rucker and Terrell Dawkins.
Beamer: “Bye week definitely came at a good time for us.”
Injury-wise everybody is probable except Christian Beal-Smith and Corey Rucker.
Terrell Dawkins “doubtful” but getting closer to getting on the field.

Even with the good news, Beamer is not overlooking Texas A&M, praising their young talent in his presser.
“They are a young team that continues to get better,” he said. “They look like what you want a football team to look like. THey’re young in a lot of spots and playing a lot of true freshmen. I’m sure we’ll see the best version of A&M coming in here on Saturday.”

South Carolina is looking to add to its 3-game winning streak. With a win, the Gamecocks would improve to 2-2 in SEC play.
