Shane Beamer gave his thoughts on Kentucky coach Mark Stoops’ recent NIL comments.

Following Kentucky’s 51-13 loss to Georgia this past weekend, Kentucky.com reported that Stoops called on fans to “donate more” to assist in Wildcats’ roster-building efforts.

Beamer said at his Gamecocks news conference on Tuesday that he can’t speak for Kentucky or Georgia’s program, but hears Stoops and “what’s he saying.”

“NIL is certainly a major factor, not just in college football, but all across college athletics,” Beamer said. “I can name all of the programs here at Carolina and they all deserve it.”

Beamer noted that funds, from an NIL standpoint, is something that the South Carolina football program “will be active in.”

“I want what’s best for our players,” Beamer said. “I’ll make every phone call and speak to every group I possibly can when it comes to raising money from this standpoint.”

Beamer has encouraged Gamecocks fans and supporters to assist with football program in the past, and will continue do so.

“Whether you agree with NIL, or don’t agree with NIL…if you want to win at the highest level and you want to win championships like we do here at Carolina, you have to be very active from a collective standpoint,” Beamer said

Thankful for the “great things” that fans have already done for South Carolina’s student-athletes, Beamer reiterated that more needs to be done.

“I’m thankful for them, but frankly we need more of them,” Beamer said. “I’m thankful for our fans and every amount of money they give to this university and football program. Those who have the ability to give, we need you.”
