Sharife Cooper, formerly with the Atlanta Hawks, will get an opportunity with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Cavs have inked Cooper to a training camp contract. Cleveland is set to begin training camp on Sept. 27.
The former Auburn standout was an SEC All-Freshman pick in 2021, following his lone season with the Tigers. He averaged 20.2 points per game and 8.1 assists but played in just 12 games as he awaited clearance from the NCAA regarding his eligibility.
Following the season, he declared for the NBA Draft, and was taken by the Hawks in the 2nd round. He played in 13 games with Atlanta while also suiting up for their G-League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks, on a 2-way contract. He then signed another 2-way contract on July 22 but was waived on July 25.
