Tennessee’s 2018 recruiting class is off to a very good start, but it lost one member on Thursday evening.

Shatar McClay, a 3-star athlete from Clarksville, Tenn., announced that he was decommitting from the Vols in a message on Twitter. McClay originally committed to Tennessee on April 13, but he apparently wants to reconsider his options.

McClay’s decision leaves the Vols with 12 players committed for their 2018 class, which is currently rated the No. 3 class in the SEC by the 247Sports Composite. Among the players committed to Tennessee is Alontae Taylor, a 4-star prospect who is rated the No. 5 athlete in this class.

The 6-foot, 165-pound McClay is rated the No. 84 athlete prospect and the No. 34 overall prospect from the state of Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking.
