Shea Patterson not making the Vanderbilt mistake: Alabama ‘obviously one of the best, if not the best’

Ole Miss travels to Tuscaloosa this weekend to take on the top-ranked Crimson Tide at 9:00 PM ET and it could be one of the more underrated games on this week’s slate.
The Rebels currently have the top offense in the conference, and everyone knows about Alabama’s elite defense, which checks in as the second best in the SEC.
On Wednesday, Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson was asked about the upcoming matchup against the Crimson Tide.
“They’re obviously one of the best, if not the best, talent-wise and coaching-wise” Patterson responded. “So, they’re very good, and we’re just looking for an opportunity to just go out there and play our game.”
It’s apparent that Patterson has learned from Vanderbilt defensive lineman Nifae Lealao’s mistake, so I wouldn’t expect him to be giving Alabama any bulletin board material before the game.
The sophomore gunslinger was asked about his mobility, however, and if that would be a key component in potentially helping the Rebels knock off the Crimson Tide.
“Picking and choosing when you need to run or throw it out of bounds” Patterson said. “I know a lot of quarterbacks in the past have had success with their legs, so I think that’s an aspect of my game that will help us.”
After beating Alabama two of the last three years, Ole Miss has seen more success than any other team against the Tide over the last fews years.
Maybe Patterson, who’s already thrown for 1,281 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, can emerge as the biggest difference-maker in the game on Saturday night.
Here’s a look at Patterson’s meeting with the press on Wednesday:
