Shedeur Sanders drafted: Social media reacts as Browns select Colorado QB in 5th round

Shedeur Sanders saw his long wait come to an end on Saturday, as the Cleveland Browns took the Colorado star quarterback in the 5th round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders’ teammate, Travis Hunter, didn’t have to wait nearly as long as the two-way player and Heisman Trophy winner was picked 2nd overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. Many figured that Sanders would hear his name shortly thereafter.
Then Thursday passed, then Friday, and speculation began to grow as to why Sanders had dropped so far and when he’d eventually come off the board. On Saturday, with the 144th overall pick, and with the 6th pick of the 5th round, he became a Cleveland Brown, even after the team took Dillon Gabriel in the 3rd round.
The Browns, one of the most tortured franchises in the NFL (and in all of pro sports, for that matter), still have troubled QB Deshaun Watson under contract. But an Achilles tear means he’ll be out a while if he even does play in 2025. Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett are the Browns’ other 2 signal callers right now.
How will Sanders turn out at the next level? We’ll find out soon. Meanwhile, here’s how social media reacted to his selection:
