Son of Atlanta Braves great Andruw Jones commits to Vanderbilt baseball
By Andrew Olson
Published:
Atlanta Braves fans, you’re about to feel old. Andruw Jones’ son will be playing college baseball in just a couple of years. (Maybe one of these days we’ll be able to refer to him as “son of Hall of Famer Andruw Jones.”)
Druw Jones, out of Suwanee, Georgia, announced his pledge to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Monday afternoon. Just like his father, he plays outfield.
Druw is in the class of 2022. While many highly sought-after baseball prospects opt to head to the minors instead of college campus, this is still a noteworthy commitment for Tim Corbin and the Vandy Boys.
Check out a video he and father Andruw made for Perfect Game in summer 2018:
Perfect Game’s Jheremy Brown also tweeted a short eval of Druw as a prospect:
Big grab here for #Vandy in their 2022 class with OF Druw Jones out of GA. Fluid defender with high level actions in CF; consistent performer with the bat & already showing pop. Highly projectable, still scratching surface of potential. #9 per @PerfectGameUSA #AnchorDown https://t.co/303FGd0SMH
