South Alabama claims title of ‘only team in Alabama’ to win bowl game in 2024

South Alabama, ironically, is the only Alabama football team that has won a bowl game this season as Alabama has gone downward in comparison to what the team usually is. It will be interesting to see what the future holds, but there is no question that the Jaguars took their opportunity to relish in the circumstances.
As is so common in this situation, South Alabama took to “X,” formerly known as Twitter, to deliver a not-so-subtle jab toward the Crimson Tide for what has been accomplished here. They had a post that was titled “Ending 2024 on top” followed by a sunglasses emoji. Here’s a look at that, with the newspaper headline of the accomplishment for South Alabama.
But while this is clearly directed at the Crimson Tide, who were formerly the best team in the nation, they are far from the only team in Alabama that has suffered losses. Jacksonville State fell to Ohio in the Cure Bowl during the postseason and other teams like Auburn, Troy, and UAB were not even bowl-eligible this season.
South Alabama will look to accomplish the same results when it gets back to the field next season. But it is safe to say the program has made quite the point this season.
