South Carolina has landed its quarterback of the future.
4-star passer Dante Reno, the No. 18 quarterback of the 2024 class, committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks Saturday evening, per The State’s Ben Portnoy.
Reno, a Massachusetts native, picked South Carolina over Kentucky, Purdue, NC State, Virginia and Wake Forest. He is South Carolina’s first commitment for the 2024 cycle.
The Gamecocks do not yet have a 2023 quarterback commitment ,but will be fine in that department until Reno arrives on campus. South Carolina recently scored on Oklahoma transfer Spencer Rattler, who will likely have turned pro by the time 2024 rolls around.
This is promising for Beamer, who recently won a share of the Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach Award alongside Tennessee’s Josh Heupel.
