South Carolina is trying to stay in the family with its latest recruiting offer.
The Gamecocks offered four-star quarterback prospect in the 2017 class Jake Bentley on Friday. Jake Bentley is the son of South Carolina running back coach, Bobby Bentley.
“It feels great,” Bentley told The Columbia State. “Coach Muschamp told me that he was going to personally recruit me hard and never use my dad to try to persuade me. That made me feel great because it shows he wants me for me. I’m very excited about it and excited to see how it goes moving forward.”
Bentley is still undecided if he will remain in Opelika, Ala., for his final year of high school or if he will move to South Carolina, but his recruiting should certainly heat up. The No. 9 quarterback in his class according to Rivals and the No. 8 prospect in Alabama has offers from Stanford, Auburn, Miami (FL) and Vanderbilt.
Bentley said Stanford is likely still his favorite. Obviously though, South Carolina has some type of inroad with the family connection. Head coach Will Muschamp will reportedly handle his recruiting directly.
