Earlier this week, South Carolina landed a huge commitment from the 2017 recruiting class when 4-star quarterback Jake Bentley pledged to the Gamecocks. He helped boost the program’s overall placing in the 247Sports team rankings, moving them up to No. nationally (No. 4 SEC).
It looks like Bentley isn’t done aiding coach Will Muschamp’s first full class, either. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound pro-style prospect is hoping his commitment will encourage other top-tier talent to follow him to Columbia.
“I have a good relationship with a lot of the top prospects from going to a lot of camps with them,” Bentley told The State‘s Matt Connolly. “I think we can have the best recruiting class in the nation. The culture around South Carolina is great, and any recruit that comes on campus will feel that.”
Bentley has played for two different high schools already and might suit up for a third this upcoming season, so his large list of contacts could be beneficial for the Gamecocks shortly down the road.
