Report: Gamecocks, Vols to play Power 5 teams in future Kickoff Classic games
South Carolina and Tennessee will open future seasons against Power 5 conference programs.
South Carolina will open the 2017 season against North Carolina State in the Belk College Kickoff Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Tennessee will begin its 2018 season in the same game, facing West Virginia.
It will be the second time in three seasons that South Carolina will participate in the Belk College Kickoff Classic. The Gamecocks played in this year’s game, defeating North Carolina 17-13.
South Carolina has won its last two games against N.C. State. The Gamecocks beat the Wolfpack 34-0 in 2008 in Columbia, S.C., then won 7-3 in Raleigh, N.C. in 2009. South Carolina has a 27-26-4 all-time record against N.C. State.
Tennessee has never played West Virginia.
