Spencer Rattler is entering his 2nd year at South Carolina, and is ready to take his game to a completely different level. In the Gamecock’s last 3 games last year, all against top 25-ranked teams, Rattler played his best football.
He threw for 1,044 yards, 10 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in those games, leading the Gamecocks to a 2-1 record.
With such a strong end to the 2022 season, the expectations for Rattler and South Carolina are higher than they have been in some time. As the team nears the season opener and camp is coming to an end, Rattler is very confident with what the team got accomplished in the summer.
Rattler: Way more explosive plays in practice at this point than last year. He’s feeling great about it, they go fast at times.
“I love it.”

Rattler: This offense suits me a lot better. Feels he’s just playing his game.

The Gamecocks open the season with 1 of the biggest Week 1 games in college football, as they play No. 21 North Carolina in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sept. 2.
That game features a high-level quarterback matchup, as North Carolina’s Drake Maye is looked at as the 2nd best quarterback behind Caleb Williams of USC. However, if Rattler is truly is as confident as he has ever been, then we might have a great quarterback matchup.
