Squirrel on the field at Ole Miss game runs into end zone, draws huge cheer from crowd

Squirrels on the field have long been a part of college football, and it’s always entertaining. But it’s even more exciting when the squirrel shows some field awareness and finds pay dirt.
That was the case on Saturday during the Ole Miss-Oklahoma game. After a delay for an injury (possibly fake) to an Oklahoma defender, the game was further delayed by a squirrel on the field.
And perhaps to show Ole Miss the way, the squirrel scampered into the end zone from 17 yards out, drawing a massive cheer from the crowd:

When play resumed, there wasn’t much for Ole Miss fans to cheer about, as the offense stalled out and the Rebels had to punt.
But for a few seconds, the uninvited (and almost certainly unticketed) visitor provided fans with something to cheer about.
Ole Miss and Oklahoma are locked in a 7-7 tie at the end of the first quarter. This is a must-win for the Rebels if they want to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive this season. Meanwhile, the Sooners are trying to turn things around and show some signs of life offensively a week after firing OC Seth Littrell. Jackson Arnold already has 1 touchdown pass today.
