Stephen A. Smith isn’t one to hold back when voicing his opinion, and in this case, he was particularly fired up.

During ESPN’s First Take on Monday morning, Smith was angry about what happened to former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders over the weekend. No, it had nothing to do with Sanders inexplicably falling from a first-round pick to the fifth round, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.

Smith’s rant had everything to do with a prank call that was made to Sanders on Friday night during Day 2 of the draft. Sanders got a call from a person who was impersonating New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. But it wasn’t Loomis. Instead, it was Jax Ulbrich, who is the son of new Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.

Jax Ulbrich has since apologized for the prank call on social media, and Ulbrich also said that Sanders answered the phone when Ulbrich called to apologize for the whole twisted ordeal on Sunday.

“On Friday night, I made a tremendous mistake,” wrote Ulbrich. “Shedeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing and shameful. I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish… Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”

That was great and all, but Smith was still completely taken aback by what Sanders had to put up with this past weekend, with falling to the fifth round and the childish prank call.

“It’s not criminal. But it’s unethical, it’s classless, and I’d like to see the face of that kid. Because sometimes you need to be embarrassed. I sincerely hope (Jeff Ulbrich) whipped his kid’s ass. That’s an ass whipping. That is a required ass whipping,” said Smith.

Here is the complete video of Smith’s rant on Monday morning:

Whatever happens to Ulbrich, it was a forgettable incident in NFL history, NFL Draft history and surely the Ulbrich family.
