Stetson Bennett is off the board, and he’ll be on the same team as another former Georgia quarterback, Matthew Stafford.

Bennett, the 2-time national championship-winning star of the last 2 seasons for the Bulldogs, continued his improbable story that started as a walk-on. The Los Angeles Rams took Bennett with the 128th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Bennett was the Offensive MVP of both Georgia’s playoff games in 2022, and started all 15 games (68.3%, 4,127 yards, 27 TDs, with 7 INTs and 10 rushing TDs) to receive second-team All-SEC honors. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and won the Burlsworth Trophy as the nation’s top player who began his career as a walk-on.

Bennett ranked 6th in the nation in passing yards, 6th in passing yards per attempt (9.1), 7th with 4,332 yards of total offense and 10th in completion percentage. Bennett was arrested early in January near Dallas for public intoxication. Bennett described it as “a mistake that everybody’s aware of.”

The first national title season at Georgia saw Bennett take over the starting job from oft-injured JT Daniels, and despite criticism from around the SEC, including a decent portion of Georgia fans, defied critics and kept winning.

Bennett is now a legend across Georgia, and recently threw out the first pitch at an Atlanta Braves game.
