While there are players you could argue are the “ultimate” SEC football player, the true ultimate player would likely have attributes of several different players.

SEC Network analyst Takeo Spikes created his ultimate SEC player for the 2023 season.

In the quickness category, Spikes gave the nod to Georgia’s Dominic Lovett, who clocked a 4.46 time in the 40-yard dash and a 4.21 in the shuttle run.

“When I looked at his game last year, I don’t think anyone jammed him off the line of scrimmage,” Spikes said. “Even when they attempted to, he shook everybody up as if they were a salt shaker.”

In the aggression category, Spikes went to Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins, who carved up and powdered through defenders all year for the Rebels last season.

Spikes didn’t award a player for the swag category, but rather a coach in Lane Kiffin. Spikes credited Kiffin’s social media presence and side line energy for his reasoning in picking the Rebels’ coach.

Spikes went to LSU’s Mekhi Wingo for the strength category, and said Wingo dominates the line of scrimmage, having his way with 300-pound offensive linemen regularly.

The crew created a new word, “extraordinary-aciousness,” to include Georgia tight end Brock Bowers on their list. Spikes believes Bowers is “great at everything he does,” and Bowers rounds out the ultimate football player.”
