A couple of SEC schools are still in competition for 4-star running back James Cook.
Cook has upcoming visits planned to Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Louisville and USC.
As of now, the Bulldogs are the leader in the clubhouse, according to Rivals. But it’s not by much.
“Well, I’m going to take officials to Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Louisville and USC,” Cook apparently said on Thursday. “Georgia’s still the leader right now … It’s by a little because I have to see the other schools and kind of figure out what fits me, you know?”
Cook is apparently still working to set dates for his visits but expects to have that done in short order.
An interesting dynamic to this recruiting process is Cook’s family tie to Florida State. His older brother, Dalvin, is fairly well known in the football world.
“With Florida State, it could go either way right now,” Cook said. “I go back and forth. I could really go either way.”
Auburn “could jump to the forefront with effective official visits,” the report stated. It has work left to do, though.
Cook is listed as the No. 5 overall running back in the class of 2018 by 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.
