Texas A&M targets Bama commit in hunt for quarterback depth

It’s been a long December for the Texas A&M football program. Within a couple of weeks the Aggies went from quality depth at the quarterback position to losing the top two quarterbacks on the roster.
When Kyle Allen announced he would transfer it wasn’t a shock to anyone. He was clearly going to be pushed aside for Kyler Murray and saw the writing on the wall. Murray’s announcement to transfer, however, had to be a surprise to many given he was looking at entering 2016 and beyond as the No. 1 guy.
Where’s Kenny “Trill” when you need him?
At the end of the day no one is going to feel sorry for Kevin Sumlin or the rest of the Aggies so we’ll get one of the current Aggies a chance to sound off and then move on.
I came to A&M because I love this town and University simple as that. This teams been through adversity before, we'll be alright #GigEm

Ok, College Station … deep breath.
Texas A&M will be quarterback hunting for the next couple of months so let’s breakdown the Aggies situation.
Last Man Standing, Jake Hubenak: A former JUCO standout, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Hubenak lead the NJCAA in passing as a freshman at Blinn College. Prior to attending Blinn he was a walk on at Oklahoma State. He has played in four games for A&M this year and is 12-of-27 for 92 yards and a touchdown. He’s ready to for a bowl game too.

The Future, Tate Martell: Currently rated the top dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2017, Martell is a 6-foot, 180-pound prospect from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. According to a story from 247Sports, Martell is very interested in trying to graduate a year early and join the program over the summer.
The Bridge?, Jalen Hurts: Hurts is an Alabama commit from Channelview, Texas, and he’s recently appeared on Texas A&M’s recruiting radar with the timing of Allen’s decision to transfer. Now that Murray is gone as well, Hurts becomes a bigger target for A&M and a recruiting headache for Nick Saban (and we know how much he hates recruiting headaches). Hurts, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound four-star prospect, is planning on enrolling in January. The Elite 11 semifinalist hasn’t and will not likely take an official visit to Texas A&M but he’s familiar with the program and met with Sumlin last weekend. Expect Hurts to make a final decision sooner than later because the only thing Saban probably likes less than bad news is surprises.
