Taulia Tagovailoa suffered an apparent serious knee injury on Saturday for Maryland in its game against Indiana.

The Terrapins quarterback was hit low after he released a pass as an Indiana defender rolled into Tagovailoa’s right knee, which already had a brace on it.

Tagovailoa, who is one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten, was 25-for-39 passing for 270 yards and 2 touchdowns. Indiana held a 27-24 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Tagovailoa has already had a big season for Maryland.

Last week against Purdue, he rose to second all-time in career yards, touchdowns and completions with his 11th career 300-yard passing game. Tagovailoa completed 26-of-38 passes for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tagovailoa also passed the 6,000 career-yard mark, set the program record for 300-yard games (10) and passed legendary QB Boomer Esaison for third all-time in career passing yards as a Terp with 32-for-41, 314 yard, 1 TD performance in win over Michigan State.
