The ‘Battle at Bristol’, set for Sept. 10, pits Tennessee and Virginia Tech against each other in prime time on ABC. The game, it has already been assumed, will break the NCAA attendance record of 115,109, set back in 2013 when Michigan played Notre Dame.
With all the attendees and viewers on television, the game (including a concert by Kenny Chesney) could land the University of Tennessee $4 million. An afternoon radio host on The Sports Animal in Knoxville, Tenn. tweeted about the game’s potential.

Because the game is the first of its kind for Bristol Motor Speedway, technicalities such as what the playing surface would be had to be discussed. In the end, the two teams will face off on field turf.
For Virginia Tech, it will be the Hokies’ second game of the season. As for the Volunteers, it will be their second game as well, after hosting Appalachian State at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 1.
