As far as Cam Sutton could tell, teammate Emmanuel Moseley’s well-timed hit during Saturday’s game at Kentucky was a textbook play on the football.

SEC officials didn’t think so and Moseley was ejected for targeting after taking Wildcats wideout Garrett Johnson to the turf. Per NCAA rules, Moseley must sit for the first half of Tennessee’s game against South Carolina on Saturday.

Sutton responded to the missed call on Monday.

“We feel like it wasn’t targeting,” Sutton said, “but we can’t do anything about the call now.”

Vols coach Butch Jones agreed with Sutton’s sentiment.

“He did not launch himself into the defender,” Jones said.
