Tennessee discloses school fundraising record from 2026 fiscal year

Since Danny White took over as the athletic director in 2021, Tennessee has done an outstanding job of fundraising. In each of his first four seasons, the school has set a fundraising record. On Monday, White announced in a statement that the streak had extended to five, as the school raised a record of $175.5 million during the 2026 fiscal year.
“As college athletics continue to evolve, growing self-generated revenue is more critical than ever, and it’s fundamental to our mission of establishing the nation’s premier athletics department,” White said. “The ongoing success of all 20 sports, together with this impressive fundraising milestone, highlights the unwavering generosity of our exceptional donors.”

The numbers weren’t extremely high when he started in 2021, as the school earned only $35.6 million.
One of the biggest reasons the school has had so much success fundraising is that the school is very competitive in many sports across the board, both on the women’s and men’s side. During the last three years, Tennessee has sold out its season allotment of tickets in football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.
These are extremely impressive numbers for Tennessee athletics, as the school contends for SEC Championships in many different sports. The football team was in the College Football Playoff two years ago, while the Volunteers’ baseball team won the College World Series during the 2024 season. On top of that, Rick Barnes’ basketball squad has advanced to the Elite 8 3 seasons in a row and won the 2022 SEC Tournament in Tampa.
White has Tennessee as one of the standards in maneuvering the college sports world right now, and the way the Volunteers athletic department is running right now is very impressive.
