The start of every new college football season brings myriad changes to every program around the country, and the Tennessee Volunteers are no exception.
The Vols will have plenty of new faces looking to make a name for themselves this fall, and they will also wear new uniforms each Saturday after switching from Nike back to Adidas after rocking the swoosh for the past decade.
Adidas has kept Tennessee’s iconic orange and white unis pretty much the same as they always have been, but they are also bringing something new to the table in the form of brand-new “Smokey Grey” alternates that the Vols will wear in 2026, specifically on October 3 against Auburn.
These new duds are a direct tribute to legendary Tennessee head coach Robert Neyland, who led the Volunteers from 1921-1952. Nicknamed “The General” for his heroic service in World War II, where he earned the rank of Brigadier General, Neyland led Tennessee to 4 National Championships, 5 SEC Championships, and 173 wins.
The interlocking UT logo on the jersey is a direct nod to Neyland’s time as coach and was worn by the 1951 National Championship-winning squad; the shoulders feature blueprints of the early expansions that Neyland himself drew up for the stadium that now bears his name.
The Smokey Grey alternates are always a massive hit on Rocky Top, but Adidas might have taken the cake with this latest iteration.
