Tennessee leaders describe lawsuit against NCAA as ‘unflinching commitment to ethical integrity’

Tennessee leaders have locked arms against the NCAA, and have come out in support of a federal lawsuit to prevent the NCAA from enforcing its NIL recruiting ban.
The lawsuit, filed in the Eastern District of Tennessee, claims the NCAA is “enforcing rules that unfairly restrict how athletes can commercially use their name, image and likeness at a critical juncture in the recruiting calendar.”
This came a day after Tennessee’s chancellor blasted the NCAA for investigating the school for potential recruiting violations related to NIL rules.

Athletics director Danny White, and Tennessee President Randy Boyd both wrote on social media that they appreciated the leadership of Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti for standing up for athletes.
“Our university and our elected leaders in state and federal government have shown an unflinching commitment to ethical integrity,” Boyd wrote. “They are not just defending the moral fiber of (Tennessee) but are also championing the rights of student-athletes across the nation.”
White added, “This is what strong leadership looks like!”
