Tennessee’s hot streak on the recruiting trail has begun to go backwards as Texas receiver KD Nixon, one of the Vols’ top committed prospects for 2017, decommitted from the school Sunday.

Nixon took to Twitter to officially announce the news:

Greg Powers of Scout was the first to report the news. Nixon originally committed to the Vols during a visit to campus for Tennessee latest Orange & White spring game.

According to 247Sports Composite Ratings, Nixon is a four-star prospect and the No. 38 receiver in the nation for 2017.

Following Nixon’s decommitment, Tennessee is back down to 17 total commitments for the 2017 recruiting class. The Vols latest recruiting class still has two receivers committed in Princeton Fant and Jacquez Jones.
