Tennessee starting right tackle Brett Kendrick had surgery on Thursday morning to repair three torn ligaments in his left ankle, reports the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Recovery time is expected to last three to fourth months, which puts him in serious doubt for the Orange & White spring game.

Kendrick (6-foot-6, 320 pounds), who tore two ligaments in the spring game last year but opted to not have surgery, tore a third ligament in the Volunteers’ loss to Alabama on Oct. 15.

He did not miss a game.

“That was the ligament that holds the tendon in place and that was another reason he ended up having the surgery,” Kendrick’s mother said Thursday. “They were afraid that tendon would rupture if the ligaments weren’t repaired.”

Kendrick will be a fifth-year senior for the Vols in 2017.
