There are a lot of things Butch Jones and his staff can teach Volunteers football players, but speed is not one of them. When a UT track athlete ran an impressive 40-yard dash, he got Jones’ attention.
The Vols track and field and cross country recently got UT’s own Christian Coleman, a 2016 Olympian, to run the 40-yard dash at the indoor practice facility.
A lot of talk about 40-yard dashes this weekend, so we asked the fastest man in the NCAA @__coleman to run one. pic.twitter.com/CpgWYvqnCI

Fastest Combine 40-yd dash times:
John Ross ➡️ 4.22
Chris Johnson ➡️ 4.24
Dri Archer ➡️ 4.26
Marquise Goodwin ➡️ 4.27
—@__coleman ➡️ 4.12 https://t.co/ojtFyPhEMi— Tennessee Stats & Info (@Vol_Stats) May 1, 2017
When Jones heard about the amazing time of 4.12 seconds, he had an awesome response.

Vols fans would love to see Coleman could bring to the team as a pass-catcher and return specialist:
And what size receiver gloves do you need? ???

Wideout, just saying…

@Vol_Track He would be good for 1 TD a game as a punt returner, minimum?

Coleman retweeted a reply that indicates he won’t be putting on football cleats any time soon:
Not a chance Coach… He only wears Nike superfly elites! https://t.co/Dl7mI0NiB3
