The Tennessee Volunteers learned some unfortunate news on Thursday Night.

Class of 2024 4-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett announced on Twitter that he is decommitting from the University of Tennessee.

Bennett cited “recent changes in the coaching staff”, referring to former OC Alex Golesh taking the head job at the University of South Florida. Golesh will reportedly be bringing 2 former Tennessee staffers with him to Tampa.

Bennett stated that he needs to “take a step back and re-evaluate Tennessee” and that “Tennessee will still be one of (my) top schools.”

Bennett is currently starring for Greenville High School in Greenville, S.C. Bennett originally committed to Tennessee on October 16. Bennett has been offered by Alabama, Auburn, and Louisville, among others.

Stay tuned for updates on Bennett’s recruiting status. Brian Dohn of 247Sports currently predicts Bennett to stay in-state and commit to the University of South Carolina.
