The Vols will take on the Panthers in The Johnny Majors Classic without running back Tiyon Evans and center Cooper Mays. Evans was the primary ball carrier in Tennessee’s 38-3 win against Bowling Green last week. The junior carried the ball 16 times for 120 yards and a touchdown. Mays was expected to be the starter at center against Pitt.

Per the report, no reason was given for Evans injury. Mays is out with an ankle injury suffered in last week’s game.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel spent much of his media availability time this week dodging injury questions. Now, it seems evident why he was so evasive.
The Tennessee-Pitt game is called The Johnny Majors Classic because the former UT football player coached at both schools. Majors led Pitt to a national title and UT to three SEC championships.
