With his new contract extension, Missouri DC Blake Baker became the highest paid football assistant in Mizzou history.
The school announced yesterday that Baker had been signed to a contract extension through 2025. That new extension will be worth $1.1 million in 2023, $1.2 million in 2024, and $1.4 million in 2025. It’s a significant increase for Baker, who is currently making $600,000 this season. The DC was slated to make $700,000 in 2023 as part of his original contract, but will add an additional $400,000 per the new extension.

Considering the strides Mizzou has made under Baker in the past year, the extension might be well worth the price. The Tigers have held teams to 311.0 yards per game this season, good enough for 3rd in the SEC. Mizzou has only 115.8 rushing yards allowed per game, which ranks 4th in the conference. Last season, the Tigers allowed the conference’s most rushing yards and were almost last in total yardage yielded per game.
Mizzou is currently ranked 3rd in the SEC East at 4-4, and will face Kentucky this coming Saturday.
