Texas A&M will be moving its “ticket pull” to a digital platform, the university announced on Friday afternoon.
The decision comes following multiple incidents that occurred during the ticket pull for the Texas-Texas A&M game last month. Moving away from the physical ticket ends a decades-long tradition at Texas A&M — something that Texas A&M president Mark Welsh acknowledged in a statement:
“I love our traditions. They are such a magnificent part of what makes this place special. The tradition of the 12th Man has been very well served by the practice of ticket pull over the years. For many, it became a rite of passage. However, as we grow and evolve as a university and work hard to preserve our valued traditions, the practices associated with those traditions sometimes also need to evolve.
“We put students at risk in the ticket pull for the Texas game. I will not risk letting that happen again. I’m confident we can create a digital solution that preserves the most important elements of the current system and allows us to welcome the 2025 football season safely filled with the Aggie spirit.”
While many college football programs have long ago made the transition to a digital process for ticket dispersement, many A&M fans are frustrated by this development.
Here’s some of the reaction to this decision from social media:
maybe because i’m nostalgic or resistant to change or a fan of traditions or just want future generations to suffer like i did but i’m kinda really sad a&m is moving to online ticket pull

What a bunch of BS!
For starters, "we put students at risk in the ticket pull for the Texas game"…
Oh really? Who is we?
So by having a ticket pull they are there by put "at risk".
Listen to yourself! Like do they not have any accountability for themselves?

Totally understand why they are moving ticket pull to an online format, but Ticket Pull did create some of the most memorable times I’ve had as a student
Rest in peace ticket pull

Reserve the 1st deck for in person ticket pull. Just limit it to a single guest pass. That way the tradition can continue in some part but not make the mess it did. Just wish my senior daughter had the chance to get a fair shot at this new system.
