Out of Hitchcok (Texas) High School, Johnson is listed as measuring 5-11 and 160 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Johnson is rated 4-stars, the No. 21 wide receiver, No. 30 player in the Lone Star State and No. 196 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.

Johnson generated interest from coast to coast during his recruitment. He received scholarship offers from 24 schools, including Auburn, Florida, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee.

In May and June, Johnson took official visits to Texas A&M, Arkansas and Texas. All three schools were finalists, along with USC and Texas Tech.

Shortly into Elko’s tenure as the new head coach, the Aggie staff was quick to make Johnson a priority target, getting him to College Station for a campus visit in January.

With Johnson on board, Texas A&M now has 19 verbal pledges in its 2025 ranking class, which is ranked No. 7 nationally on the Composite. Aggie fans who don’t follow Hitchcock football can get a preview of what Johnson brings to the team by checking out his junior highlights in the video below:
