Texas A&M has been in some turmoil for the last week with Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen each transferring out of College Station, leaving Texas A&M to play its third-string quarterback. Then came the reports Texas A&M was seeking a buyout of Kevin Sumlin. Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp dismissed those reports as a fairy tale.

Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin had his chance to respond on ESPN Nashville radio warning everyone to watch where such information is sourced.

“I don’t deal with anything like that, good or bad,” Sumlin told the Nashville station. “There are all kinds of reports that happen around me, or around the football program all of the time. I can tell you it doesn’t affect what we do, and doesn’t affect how we approach our job, and it doesn’t affect our players.

“Where those reports come from, you have to pay attention to, who reports that kind of stuff. If you look into that, I think you’ll figure out what the motive is.”

The original report about the buyout came from Chip Brown, writer for Horns Digest covering Texas. Texas and Texas A&M do not have the greatest of friendships. The former Big 12 rivals and still archrivals have a long history against each other.

Sumlin seems to be suggesting there is no love lost between the Longhorns and Aggies in some way.

The report proved to be unfounded and Texas A&M is looking to move forward.

That starts with rallying around quarterback Jake Hubenak in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30. Sumlin told the radio station they are ready for the Hubenak era to begin.
