Texas A&M is trying to turn the page from a 2024 season that had a lot of promise before crashing and burning with 3 straight losses to end the season.
The Aggies settled for an 8-5 record in Mike Elko’s first season in College Station, and that was good but not good enough. Now, with spring football in full swing at Texas A&M and the Maroon & White spring game coming up this Saturday, the Aggies have named the 3 players who will lead them in 2025.
On Monday, Texas A&M put its faith in those 3 players as its team captains for this coming season. Those 3 captains for this fall will be sophomore linebacker and Texas native Taurean York, junior offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III and junior offensive lineman Ar’maj Reed-Adams, who happens to be another Texas native.
Texas A&M will lean on those 3 players throughout 2025 to try to get to the College Football Playoff. Last season, the Playoff looked like a real possibility for the Aggies after a 7-1 start to the season. But a blowout loss at South Carolina in early November sent Texas A&M spiraling, and the Aggies ended their season by blowing a 17-point lead in a loss to USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Now, Elko’s program is searching for a fresh start, and those 3 team captains named on Monday will be huge keys to making sure there is no collapse in 2025.
