Texas A&M player was taken to hospital for ‘heat-related medical emergency’ at Tuesday practice

A Texas A&M football player was taken to the hospital on Tuesday for a heat-related medical emergency, the program shared Wednesday. He has since been released.
According to KBTX, the player was not named in Texas A&M’s statement given to local media. KBTX’s report also notes that A&M staff used a portable backdrop to block the view of the player being loaded into the ambulance. The ambulance reportedly remained in the parking lot for 10 minutes and did not use its lights or sirens upon leaving.
There was a heat-related medical emergency at practice yesterday,” A&M’s statement read, per KBTX. “Thanks to the quick response of our incredible medical staff, we were able to act swiftly and provide the student-athlete with the care he needed. Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and has since been released. He is now back with the program and will be available this weekend.
Texas A&M football hosts Kentucky on Saturday. Mike Elko‘s Aggies are off to a 2-0 start, defeating Missouri State 50-0 in Week 1 and Arizona State 48-20 in Week 2. The Wildcats come to Aggieland with a 1-1 record after a Week 2 home loss to Alabama.
Saturday’s game is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff, airing on ESPN.
