Texas A&M has set an interesting early-season matchup against one of the top programs in college basketball.
The Aggies will take on Houston on December 16th at the Toyota Center in Houston, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported. On the same day, Texas will also play LSU at the Toyota Center.
Buzz Williams is coming off of a season in which he was named the Associated Press Coach of the Year in the SEC. In his fourth season at Texas A&M, Williams led a historic regular season, as the Aggies won 15 conference games for the first time in exactly 100 years. The Aggies lost to Alabama in the SEC Tournament Championship, and then fell to Penn State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. That was the Aggies’ first appearance in the tournament in 5 years.
Williams is the first Texas A&M head coach to win 25 or more games in consecutive seasons and his 52 victories over the past 2 seasons match the school record.
Houston fell in the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament after a 33-4 season.
