Texas A&M receiver Will Gunnell let his emotions get the best of him Saturday.
As Texas A&M headed to the locker room at halftime trailing Louisiana-Lafayette 21-14, Gunnell flipped off the crowd at Kyle Field. The Aggies eventually rallied in the second half, shutting out the Ragin’ Cajuns in the final 30 minutes to take a 45-21 victory.
Once the game concluded, Gunnell took to Twitter to apologize for his actions.
“First and foremost I’d like to apologize to my family, teammates and the university as a whole,” he wrote. “The action was an ill-advised gesture in no way aimed at the fans. I’m deeply sorry my actions took away from the game. I was raised better and this brief moment will haunt me the rest of my life. Again, I am truly sorry to my teammates, the coaches and the Aggie nation as a whole. I take full responsibility for my actions.”
Gunnell is a freshman from Houston. He has yet to catch a pass in the Aggies’ first three games of the season.
