Texas football announced Wednesday that its Week 2 clash with Alabama is officially a sellout, via the Longhorns’ official Twitter account.
It will be the first meeting between the schools since Alabama’s 2009-10 national championship victory over 2nd-ranked Texas, when a Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson-led Crimson Tide squad steamrolled the Longhorns, 37-21.
The Crimson Tide will no doubt be considered one of the top 5 teams in the country upon their visit to Austin in September. The Tide return Heisman-winning quarterback Bryce Young and will face a new-look Texas team that faced an offseason of significant turnover.
There is a strong chance Young will matchup against former Ohio State quarterback and 5-star redshirt freshman Quinn Ewers.
Alabama faces Texas after a bout with Utah State in Tuscaloosa. The Longhorns will host their second straight game to start the 2022 season, battling Louisiana-Monroe in Week 1.
