Some of the nation’s best football talent comes from SEC territory. So it’s no stunner to hear that many athletes from Texas, Florida and Georgia were invited to participate in The Opening Finals.

The event, which will be held from July 8-10 at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, will feature 166 of the country’s top high school football players as selected by Student Sports following film evaluation and/or in-person study at one of The Opening Regionals or Rating Days.

Here’s how the event is described on the program’s website:

The Opening Finals presented by Nike Football is three days of dynamic training, coaching and competition for the country’s most elite high school football players. Every position and every aspect of the game will be highlighted over the course of the three-day program. The Opening Finals is undoubtedly  the most high profile high school football event in the nation. Last year it drew media coverage from ESPN.com, Bleacher Report, Scout.com, 247sports.com, Rivals.com, NFL Network, USA Today and every other major recruiting website, as well as being featured with eight hours of broadcast on ESPNU.

Brian Stumpf of Student Sports broke down the invitees by state. Turns out, Texas is the most represented with 23 players making the cut. Florida is second with 19, and Georgia is tied for third with 18. Tennessee has six players invited. Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi all have five.

The event should be quite the showcase. Tomorrow’s college football talent will be on display for the imaginations of today.
