Texas had several chances to win Friday’s massive matchup with Iowa State.
Even after giving up a late lead, the Longhorns had the ball with an opportunity at a game-tying field goal, and drove into Cyclone territory. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger took a crucial sack, however, and kicker Eric Dicker missed a potential game-tying 57-yarder that vaunted Iowa State into the Big 12 title game.

Just to add insult to injury, the cannons at Darrel K Royal Stadium in Austin were fired in celebratory fashion as Texas fans displayed their surrender cobras and Iowa State spilled onto the field in celebration.
It’s ok, Texas fans. Maybe you’ll be “back” next season. Just remember those cannons are for when you win, not the other way around.
