According to Monday morning reports, Texas freshman offensive lineman Nick Brooks was arrested over the weekend.

David Eckert with The Austin Statesman reported on the situation Monday morning, indicating that Brooks was arrested on Sunday morning with charges of DWI. According to Eckert, head coach Steve Sarkisian has released a statement indicating that Texas is aware of the situation and has spoken to Brooks while gathering more information.

Sarkisian is set to address the media on Monday, but it is unlikely he will have much of a public update at that time.

Brooks joined the Longhorns as one of the elite offensive tackles in the 2025 recruiting class. He played his senior season of football at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, and Brooks was a 4-star recruit and the No. 25 OT in the entire country per the 247 Sports Composite.

Listed at 6-foot-7 and 345 pounds out of high school, Brooks has the undeniable size and physical frame coaches look for in a future left tackle. He is just beginning his college football journey, but is a promising prospect.

We’ll see how the situation develops with the Longhorns emerging from spring practices and heading into the summer.
