Texas softball blasts in-state rival Texas A&M, moves on to Super Regionals
Another team punched their ticket to Super Regionals on Sunday. That team was Texas softball.
The Longhorns made sure to take care of business against in-state rival Texas A&M. Texas went on to beat the Aggies 11-5.
Texas scored first in the top of the first inning after the ball skipped over the centerfielder’s glove. The mishap allowed the Longhorn baserunner to score all the way from first. Mia Scott recorded the hit.

More runs were scored in the first inning before the damage was done. Not too long after Scott’s hit, Courtney Day knocked a pair of runs.

By the time Texas A&M recorded three outs to end the first inning, the score was 4-0 in favor of Texas.
Texas went on to score two more runs in the top of the second inning and four more in the fifth inning to increase the lead to 10-2.
Viviana Martinez batted in the final run of the game as Bella Dayton crossed home plate thanks to the single to right center in the seventh.
The Longhorns used a pair of pitchers on the mound. Mac Morgan lasted five innings before Sophia Sampson came on in relief to pitch the final two.
Morgan allowed 6 hits and had 2 strikeouts. Sampson allowed just 1 hit and had 4 strikeouts from her two innings of work.
Sampson struck out the final batter of the game to send the Longhorns to Super Regionals.
