Texas A&M suffers first decommitment since Jimbo Fisher news

Texas A&M has lost a commit in its 2018 recruiting class.

Leon O’Neal Jr. announced via Twitter on Friday that he would be decommitting from A&M and looking elsewhere as a result of A&M’s hiring of Jimbo Fisher from Florida State.

As O’Neal Jr. put it, “I do not stand 100% with the coaching change as of now.”

O’Neal Jr. is a highly-touted, 4-star safety out of Cypress, Texas (Cypress Springs High School).

He is rated as the nation’s No. 7 safety and the No. 78 prospect overall, according to the 247Sports Composite.

O’Neal Jr. has offers from just about all the major powers in college football. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State — you name it.

This was a tough choice for the standout safety, he said on Twitter.
